Patty (later spelled "Patti") Andrews, the last surviving member of the Andrews Sisters, one of the top acts of the 1940's, died yesterday at age 94 in California. The trio, Maxene, LaVerne and Patty, were iconic, one reason longtime fan Bette Midler covered their 1941 hit recording of "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy," which appeard in the Abbott & Costello comedy Buck Privates. They had a ton of hits, starting in the late 30's and continuing into the early 50's.

The Andrews Sisters can still be heard on XM Radio's channel The 40's On 4.
I commute 2 hours a day into the city and back to go to work, and The 4o's On 4 is my favorite, and one of the very few reasons I'm willing to pay $17 a month for the satelite service.
