No4 Mk1 Front Sight Height

I recently got my first No4 Mk1, a 1943 Maltby.

Here's how it looked after degreasing everything, including the wood:

Here's how it looks now after 3 applications of boiled linseed oil, just about right I think, not too dark, not too shiny:

I was tempted to iron out some of the stock dings but I concluded that they add character and should be preserved.

So here's the question. This rifle has a front sight marked +.075. Do I understand correctly that a .075 was the tallest front sight for the No4s?

I haven't shot it yet but I suspect a previous owner put on the tallest front sight to try to get a 100 yd zero with the 300 yd battle sight.

Thanks, Duncan. Looks like I could go one front sight taller if I need to. That's a great website. I've added it to my favorites list of Enfield resources.

I'm eager to get to the range but winter just seems to be holding on here in Pennsylvania.
