Hit the range about 10am, after a long 10 minute drive.......
Took my 91/30 that I'll be shooting in the Spring Shoot, and tried to tune
the scope a little better.....tried anyway.
After running about 75 rounds through it, put up an 8" target that is kind of
similar to the one for the shoot.
As you can see, I'll probably not win this one either. I guess it is mandatory to
have one real flyer...

Was on ebay a while back and saw a muzzle brake that I thought I really needed,
as usual, I was wrong. Got off about 10 rounds before it headed for the target,
and almost made it. I saw fly away but didn't see where it landed, so during the
next break I went looking and found it about 10 feet short of the target and
right in line. Which means that it made it 140 feet.......
It is 4" long and 1 1/4" diameter and machined out of one piece of aluminum
and as you can see in the pics, it is hollow with holes drilled in it. There are 6
6-32 set screws to hold it to the barrel and they actually left cuts in the barrel
when it was pulled off. What I'm not sure about is....... did the recoil end up
sliding off the end of the barrel or did the pressure build up behind the bullet
and it was blown off the barrel. I looked at the end the bullet exits and couldn't
see where a bullet had caught the edge of the hole and ripped it off, that would
have gouged the aluminum for sure. Anyway, something blew it 140 feet
downrange, just not sure what. And you can tell it landed nose first in the dirt,
one end is all scuffed up, didn't have a mark when I started.

It was about 85 deg at the range this morning, a beautiful day.
