1st Happy New Years one and all

Just sitting around the house wiping down the rifles in my gun safes and decided to get some updated pic's of my sniper collection.
2013 was a good year with the addition of 3 new ones, the 42 & 47 Izhevsk PU's and the 57 Czech VZ54/91. Hopefully 2014 will bring my 1st PE/PEM to my growing collection, but only time will tell.

Interesting display. Brought to mind a question I know I have asked before. But... since I'm thinking about it.

Notice those lens covers. The legit snipers all seem to come with them with the connecting strap free of the sight mount. Mine... with a legit...but not wartime scope.. has the strap running through the circle in the mount. It would seem the original wartime scopes would have taken advantage of using the round hole in the mount as a way to keep the cap when not covering the lenses.

My surmise would be that those lense covers are late import additions to the scopes on what we are seeing as legit snipers with legit wartime scopes. However.....it's only a guess actually.

What do you think, Walt?
