The $500 bet

Texan walks into a pub in Dublin, clears his voice, and addresses the crowd of drinkers.
“I hear you Irish are hard drinkers. I'll give $500 American to anyone who can drink 10 pints of Guinness back-to-back.”
The room is quiet, and no one takes up the Texan’s offer. Suddenly one man leaves the pub. Fifteen minutes later he comes back and taps the Texan on the shoulder.
“Is your offer still good?” asks this Irishman. The Texan says yes and asks the bartender to line up 10 pints of Guinness.
The Irishman downs all ten, drinking them back-to back. The other patrons cheer as the Texan sits in amazement.
The Texan gives the Irishman $500 dollars and asks, “If you don’t mind me asking, where did you go for 15 minutes?”
The Irishman said, "Oh, I had to go to the pub next door to see if I could do it.”
