Nice leather sling. Mine didn't come with a sling. My M1 Garand came with a woven sling as would have been proper late war issue. I did add a reproduction leather sling to my 03A3 though.

The stock and sling were added by me. The stock that came on it was a scant stock that didn't fit for crap and was sanded to within an inch of it's life. The sling is just a cheap reproduction.

After adding the sling I also invested in one of those surplus sight hoods. Helps a little to get a read on that slim blade when aiming. Can't tell for sure, but looks like you have one too.

You know that 'hood' is a protector only, don't you?
Though the rifle can be used with it in, It is too low to give a decent picture. It was supposed to be removed, and was designed only as a protector.
The Marines had a hood made that was more bulbous, allowing a decent picture. There may be some repro Marine sight protectors out there if you look.

That may well be true that it was only meant as a protector. But... I find it easier to pick up the narrow blade of the front sight looking through it rather than not having it there. And... it protects the blade at the same time.

With my eyes the only thing that would help my rifle would be a scope.
