The Pentagon is set to soon deploy the 122nd Fighter Wing of the Indiana Air National Guard, nicknamed the Blacksnakes, over to the Middle East in support of the US-led mission against the Islamic State, according to the Huntington County TAB. The deployment reportedly consists of 300 units along with twelve A-10 Warthog Fighter Jets.

Obviously written by people who have no idea about military aircraft. They call the A-10 a
"fighter jet"...........
It's correct name is Fairchild Republic A-10 Thunderbolt II, nicknamed the Warthog.

A fighter uses the letter F and a number..... F-15, F-16, etc. And a ground attack aircraft uses
the letter A and a number.... A-10. Attack aircraft = low and slow.
And in the case of a dual role aircraft, as the FA-18, they use both.

The A-10 is not a fighter aircraft, with a top speed of just over 400mph. But it is built around
a 30mm gatling gun that will tear up anything on the ground, especially tanks and troops.
The photo below shows why it is the grunts friend.
