ACV's Air Cushioned Vehicles were owned and operated by the US Army in the Delta of Vietnam. Only one survived the war. They could cruise over swamps like the Plain of Reeds and bring all kinds of hell on unsuspecting VC and NVA moving over the swamp. They were also good for ferryboats. I road on them. These are some pictures I brought back.

Bombs that were rigged to detonate, as well as other explosives set in the probable path of ACV's accounted for the loss two of them. This is a photo supplied by Charlie Tapp, a friend of mine from another company that shows the aftermath of the distruction of one of them in the Delta in 1970.

I wouldnt have liked being on that ACV when it went bang

Q. what is happening with the guy hanging from the Huey? Is he on a winch? Did the Huey have winches when operating in Vietnam?

BTW, Nice pics Robert.
