Military grade AR 15 bullets?

Seems there is a effort by the Obama administration to ban armor piercing bullets. The armor they have in mind to protect from piercing is police issue bullet proof vests.
Back during the bad old days in Vietnam....45 and more years ago... M16's shot Nato approved jacketed bullets and the Commies shot whatever they had... which likely was also in line with the "rules of war", which, in thinking about war and rules, is an oxymoron in itself. And...... back in the day....... an M16 bullet would go through an issue flack jacket without much difficulty at relatively close range. Now days, the protective vests are better and protect better. So instead of this crazy ban thing...maybe make a better vest... or hire real men, who expect to take their chances, like they used to, when they signed on to be cops.
