According to them every policeman should have one so when someone they are apprehending struggles with them and reaches for their weapon the officer won't have an excuse to shoot the person they are attempting to arrest. Or children won't get their parents loaded pistol and shoot themselves when the public accepts smart guns and everyone is willing to pay for one....or suddenly get smart themselves.
