Here's my slug load for the .410 Enfield Musket
Next to a normal .303 for comparisson. The projectile is a Lee .41 Magnum lead bullet (not well cast)
The load is all the 2fg I could get in the case, groups around 8" at 50 yds .........room for improvement

Eoin,
A silly question, but, without the parallel case<1>, do you find it more difficult to extract after firing?
Regards
Tom
<1> The case IS parallel isn't it? (Either that or I need new glasses).

New specs, Tom
The case is 0.428" OD at the mouth and 0.450 in front of the rim.
Which is a bare 0.011" taper per side, but there is a bulge to 0.440" in front of a section at 0.435" about the middle.
No extraction problems despite the funny chamber. Note where the light reflection curves on the lhs.

Just damn you, Eoin!
Here I am, taking a break from some post hurricane Rita clean-up (not bad, I was quite lucky)
and as one of the few people left to really appreciate the .41 Mag. pistol, you've made me wonder why I've never put the two together! I even clean the L-E chambers with a .41 barrel brush.
I reckon a musket is now on the list. This is just gotta be a too fun project.
Take Care, Brad

Not yet, have to fire-form a few more cases before I get down to some serious experiments. Am making some aluminium sabots to fit over normal .303, shall turn the .303 proj back to a flat point at first as I don't want to risk driving through the sabot.
