Name the Town

A husband and wife were driving through Louisiana. As they approached the city of Natchitoches, they started arguing about the pronunciation of the town. They argued back and forth, then they stopped for lunch.

At the counter, the husband asked the not-so-bright waitress, "Before we order, could you please settle an argument for us? Would you please pronounce where we are very slowly?"

She leaned over the counter and said, "Burrr-gerrr Kiiing."

Here in the Pacific Northwest, a lot of the towns, rivers, and counties have Indian names. And even growing
up here, sometimes they are hard to pronounce.........
Squaxin
Okanogan
Snoqualmie
Wenatchee
Skookumchuck
Stillaguamish
Issaquah
Dosewallips
Hoquiam

And of course the town I live in, Sequim, most tourists say See-quim, but it's Skwim, rhymes with swim.

Try Mobile out one time... where I live.

Many not from here pronounce it like the Brits call cell phones on those old PBS shows or Mobile Oil . It's pronounced like in automobile.
