Milsurp After Hours

Well.. maybe not everyday. Saw this following the shoreline a half mile or so from the beach the other day. Looks like an old Cobra to me. State of the art 50 years ago. I'd have thought they had been replaced by something now days....like the Apache? However, we still have refueling air tankers still flying in service that are older than that.

The photo was taken from Gulf Shores Alabama and less than 50 miles from the Pensacola Navy station...home of the Blue Angels. Maybe it was some kind of training mission.

That is the twin engine "hot rod" SuperCobra. The only US military still using them is
the Marine Corp, the Army gave them up in 2001, for the Apache.
Training mission is a good guess.
And if you think that's old, the last B-52 was made in 1962..... .....they still fly.
