I recently acquired a 6.5X52 M41 and have just been trying some of my indoor low power rounds in it.
Only 4.6g of Vihtavuori N320 under 170g Lee and 134g NOE bullets and, despite struggling with the sights, was quite pleased with results so far at 25m.

He's dead Jim!
Joe, I am interested in how you work out a low power round and what sort of performance you get in relation to a full charge one. :)

How did you work out aiming it on an indoor range with a sight configured for ...what...400 meters?

Duncan, I base my loading for cast bullet rounds on the info from this article by C.E. Harris.
Most of my shooting these days is with cast bullets as the price of PPU is getting prohibitive for me considering the amount of shooting I do. I am out anything up to 4 times a week some weeks, both indoor and out, anything from 15m up to 300m.

Robert, this rifle shoots high and I was just using the battle sight with the foresight low in the vee.
At 300m last weekend with PPU factory rounds I still had to aim at the target base to get in the black using the 300m sight setting.

Duncan the secret is to use a fast pistol powder I shoot my AIA in 7.62x39 using 3.6 grains of bullseye with a 150grain Loverin cast bullet. I shoot a similiar load through the MAS. Like Joe Im finding the price of ammo is starting to affect the amount of shooting I can afford to do. I have bought a cheap .308 target rifle that I am converting to use with cast boolits I have removed the parker hale rear sight and drilled and tapped it for a scope rail. I intend to shorten the barrel to 26" and restock it using a Mauser stock. I intend to use it out to 300 yards. It was destined for the scrap bin so nothings lost if it dosnt work.

Nice rifle and nice shooting. I have one of those and mine shoots high also. I have not used PPU ammo but reloaded for it with PPU bullets. Where did you get the brass clips from? I have a few blued steel ones but they could work better than they do.
Regards
Peter.

Are the PPU fmj bullets .264" Peter? My barrel slugs at .256" bore and .269" groove so I have just started with the Lee and Noe cast bullets which both drop at around .268".
The brass charger came with the rifle though I do have a few steel ones from a previous Carcano.

Out of interest Peter which shell holder do use ? The supplied Lee No. 2 is a slack fit and is damaging the case rim if I'm not very careful. I read the RCBS No. 9 is better, do you have any recommendations?
