Cavalry carbine nose caps.

I have been lucky enough to find a few sportered cavalry carbines over the years. All good shooters and all potential restorations.
Finding replacement parts isn't easy. Almost impossible in fact. So I tried my hand at stock making and built a wood duplicator. So stock problem solved, I now had to find nose caps. They are rare as woodwork, so I had some made.
This is one of a second batch that were made with the help of another collector, who just happens to be a machinist with a full blown workshop.
Made on a CNC mill, the program has been tweaked to produce a second batch that is very close in form to the original sample used as the pattern. Once I soften the crisp edges and oil blacken, they will be pretty much indistinguishable from the original.
