Another sniper enters the fold

I have been looking for one of these several years now so when this one became available while I was on vacation I moved fast to secure it for my collection.

It's a Finn captured 36 Tula PE sniper rifle that was de-scoped before export. It is a mix master of both Izhevsk and Tula parts but the bore is bright with good rifling. I have a nice Ukrainian reproduction PE scope to reside on it while I attempt to track down an original PE scope and mount for it. It will go nicely with my other 1936 Mosins.

Nice addition. If that rifle could talk it would be an interesting story I bet.

For a top mount PE sniper it is, here is a pic of one with the scope mounted.

That's an interesting way to mount the scope. I think I like that better than the side mount. Are the mounts difficult to get hold of.

The bases are rare as hens teeth, mounts are almost as hard, and scopes are even easier still, but that said if I can find it all it will be between $2500/$3500 US. Side mounted snipers ( PEMs) where a much better rifle as zeroing it was easier than the top mounts. I have a very nice ukranian scope mount and base I have been holding onto for a couple of years now that will reside on this rifle until a legit set up comes along.
