In 1970 I spent three weeks on HMS Forth sailing from Singapore to Hong Kong and back. We had ten days in Hong Kong. There were four of us RAF bods taken on board for the trip. They made us work our passage. We had to work from 9am to 11am with a tea break from 10am to 1015am. A few photos of the trip.
On our way.

RFA Stromness came alongside and did a replenishment at sea. They made us work humping stores so I couldn't get any photos of the actual operation. This was a practice operation as this was done on our first day out of Singapore so wasn't really neccessary.

They had a practice at lowering a boat.

They had a practice shoot with the 40mm Bofors guns. The tied some oil drums together and threw them overboard.

Interesting, Peter. Glad you posted the photos of what you were doing a half century ago. Fifty years ago today I would have been someplace south of Saigon in the Delta of Vietnam.
