I had no Lard so had to use butter and oil which stopped it rising properly BUT it was delish.

Wow... looks like over 78k newly landed Englishmen must have attempted to learn how to use a knife and fork with that video. Some of the people from the former empire must have found it difficult to use tableware after having learned the proper hand to eat with and the proper hand to wipe with from their mothers.

What you are showing looks like something that would be worth trying. In the military we had something called shit on a shingle that was a kind of hamburger floating in lard and poured over a rock hard slab made out of flour and water and baked to the consistency of a brick. After basic training and advanced individual training, where we expected to be treated as harassed fraternity initiates, the mess hall sergeants suddenly seemed to realize that ditching the SOS would prolong their life expectancy.
