Oh no. What have I got to look forward to now from Little Johnny when I get back ? Are we going to ban knives or something really dangerous like letter openers ?

We're stuck with princess Tony and the Rubber Spoon mob*.

The latest "Violent Crimes Bill" before the political vermin at present not only tries to restrict knives (but not swords, funnily enough), but also seeks to ban the sale/loan/acquisition and supply# of de-activaed/de-milled firearms, replica guns, 'realistic' air guns (air soft), blank firers, even 'realistic' toy guns (watch out for the next James Bond, with a bright green plastic water-pistol). The stated reason is along the lines that these may be used in crimes and the victims (and police) may not be able to tell the difference.

As I see it, if the victims can't tell the difference, then the law treats the offence as if a real weapon was used, if the Police can't tell the difference, then an armed copper is likely to remove the offender from the gene pool.

The main point is, of course is that criminals a) can get hold of real guns anyway and b) don't tend to obey laws (I think it's somewhere in the job description).

Still, passing more laws, it's much easier than actually trying to deal with the problem.

Tom

*They don't want anyone to have anything more dangerous than a rubber spoon, and then only if it's a soft one.

# This is a bit of cunning penny pinching. The pieces are not banned (posession is still legal), so no compensation is payable, but the pieces can only be disposed of to the police (illegal to transfer ownership) and are therefore valueless.

Gentlemen,

My apologies for the above post, this is the wrong forum for this, but somehow this thread just seemed to trigger it.

Again, my apologies for the rant.

Tom.
