Milsurp After Hours

We were talking about various knife and bayonets on the chat today. I pulled out one that I knew went to an Enfield rifle and there was an objection that it wasn't British. I knew what it fit. A 1Mk III. However, it was a Lithgow I think I may have gotten it with. The markings show NSW... which I interpret as New South Wales. So.. did only Australian troops ever use such a pig sticker?

I interpreted the markings on the bayonet wrong I am sure now. It looks like it was made in India from the markings that are really N.W.R. That stands for North West Railways. It was made for an Enfield starting during WWII.

Indian made bayonets and other accoutrements would make sense Robert as the Indians have always had the ability to produce such items and explains the unique design ie length.

Niner - Your bayonet is an Indian No.1 Mk II*. You correctly identified the maker as Northwest Railways. India made somewhere between 6 and 9 different models of bayonets for the No.1 rifle. Especially during WWII there were a number of makers.
