BOOT PISTOL

I recently bought a belgian Boot Pistol at auction for 83,50€ / $90.
When it arrived it looked better than the photographs and although it was not described as such, it has a screw off barrel.
Unlike a lot of these type of pistols the barrel key fits INSIDE the muzzle so I had to devise one to remove the barrel.
Might shoot it this weekend. 12 grains of 2f and some No:7 shot.

Interesting piece. I'd guess you could leave the barrel in place without screwing it off without much consternation. However..... equally interesting tool you made. Wonder how easy it would be to replace the nipple and what kind of screw threads they are relative to what can be bought on the open market? Dixie Gun works used to offer a variety of thread patterns.

First remove the nipple!! It is rusted in although it does have clean flats IF I could find a nipple key to fit.
First I will try some compressed air to see if I can blow out the internal rust then try a cap.

Nice little piece, I like the fact that the engraver included the end of the hammer pivot screw in the design.

Now have it and my double barrel 'Vineyard pistol' mounted for display.
I have fired a couple of caps through the boot pistol and I can see a bore light through one of the double barreled pistol so might get round to some bangs soon!!
