Do you consider that the police should be granted a specific power of entry (without a warrant issued by a magistrate or sheriff) to be able to seize shotguns, firearms and ammunition where there is a risk to public safety or the peace and the certificate holder does not cooperate with the police and agree to voluntary surrender. (In association with this proposal, the police should be given the power to suspend a certificate temporarily).

To enter a private home and take any weapons upon any actual or alleged suspicion of a risk of danger to the public is a pretty broad power. Good thing the powers that be are all woke and perfect judges of what's good for everybody.

There will be no 'CONSULTATION' in reality because the UK Government will take no notice of anything that is said.........

I have completed the consultation. As Duncan says, no matter what replies they get, they will do what they want anyway. These consultations are a box ticking exercise. They have them on various topics but do what they plan all along, regardless of the answers they get. They had a consultation on whether air guns in Scotland should be subject to having a licence to own. Around 90% of the respondents were against the idea, but they did it anyway. So, in Scotland, you now have to have an Airweapon Certificate to own any form of air gun, no matter how low powered.
I have zero confidence in the Home Office regarding firearms law. They only work against the law abiding firearms owners. The criminals carry on as normal. A case has just concluded where a man had a dispute with a rival gang in Liverpool. He tracked two men to a pub and opened fire on them with a Skorpion sub machine gun. He fired 12 rounds, wounded his intended targets but Killed a 26 year old woman who was stood near them who was an innocent bystander on a night out. The murder was on Christmas Eve last year. These sub machine guns have not been legal to own in the UK since 1937 unless you have a special authority from the Home Office that ordinary people won't get. Strict firearms laws restrict the law abiding, not those with criminal intent.
