A good weekend at the range leads to a new toy

Spent this past weekend down in Henry County TN at their annual Vintage & Modern Sniper Rifle World Championship shoot and had a fantastic time shooting with the club and catching up with many friends that competed, (more latter) but the best came after the shoot.

I had a chance to acquire a complete, numbers matching, Romanian VZ24 sniper rifle to add to the collection. Needless to say I jumped all over it as the mounts are rare, and the IOR scopes are virtually unobtainable. So Sunday after unloading my gear I went out back to grab a few quick pics of it before the sun sets.

I've never seen even a photo of an authentic VZ24 sniper, much less an all matching example. I have three VZ24's. One has a bent bolt that I got at a gun show years ago. Think the bent bolt might have been for calvary or bicycle troops. No telling. Back about 25 or so years ago there were boat loads of the VZ24's arriving in the US. Now days all that has all changed.

There were several hundred scopeless snipers (most w/bases) that were imported back some time ago, but they mostly had well-worn stocks & barrels. This one was part of a group of 8 that were recently imported from the EU according to the gentleman I bought it from.
