ROLLING BLOCK

I am currently waiting for a shipment of Danish Rolling Block rifles to arrive in France when I will get the first pick of them.
In the mean time I am trying to set up the reloading kit.
This belongs to my friend who is importing them and he has loaned it to me so I can do a Chamber Cast.
Calibre is 11.7 X 51R so it looks like purchasing Bertram brass and having a mold made for me by another friend in the UK.
This is a Remington Rolling Block built for the Danish Army but the ones I am waiting for were built by the Danes under licence.
Some people suggest that 45-70 Govt ammunition will shoot but having bought 2 rounds to try I find that the rims are thicker than the Danish round and the breech will not close. The Danish rim is 0.057" thick but the 45-70 is 0.07"!
Work in progress

Duncan,
A simple fix is to turn the excess off the FRONT of the rim, perfectly safe and if you don’t have a lathe then buy one of the small hobby ones ; you’ll soon find plenty of use for it

Something like this, $72 in Oz.

I have a small PROXXON lathe which should do the trick. It only needs a gnats knacker off- 0.011"
