I have never driven a right hand drive vehicle, but have wondered about this.

Are the pedals and shift pattern the same or opposite in RHD and LHD vehicles? Over here it is, left to right, clutch, brake and gas.

The shift pattern, floor shift, has first and second gear closest to the driver.

And are the RHD layouts the same in Europe, Australia, and Japan?

Vern.

I spent 2 years stationed in Japan in the mid 70's. The pedals are the same as ours are, just on the other side of the car.

I used to drive a Dodge power wagon between several of our bases. It was a real adventure on those narrow roads.

They are the same around the world (until someone comes up with an example from Lower Slobovia that isn't :) )

Even the logical ones that seperate the brake and clutch pedals by putting the go-pedal in the middle are the same in LHD and RHD.

Eoin.

PS. Not counting automatics and funny cars that have a single pedal for clutch and brake.....half in-declutch...rest of the way-brake.

I'm intrigued by these landrovers at the moment. Although not military I don't believe these units fall that far outside the War Machine classification (not from what I've seen of Belfast so far). I wonder what their high speed pursuit capabilities are like ?
