Milsurp After Hours

Just to give you some eye candy this weekend. Here is my 1893 made all original (and like new) Chatellerault m/91, still with no handguard (as it was introduced later), with fingerrest and flat first back sight leaf.

I've been to the gunshow in Kassel yesterday.

I had a great time all day long with some good friends.

Saw a very nice Romanian M44, but I have no room left on my license so I had to leave it behind

I also saw a Finnish M27 with a Russian PU scope.

The owner of the stand told me he had bought the rifle from a man who had made this combination himself and had good results with it on the range.

The M27 looked great BTW

I was told at the DWJ stand that you visited the show last Thursday.

Did you see or buy anything nice there

yes I was in Kassel, but I found it dissappointing. Wednesday already (when the show was still closed for normal customers) some Russians went around and bought the interesting Mosin stuff. Just one Finnish guy was there with many (pricey) Finnish leather ammo pouches. I just bought a DDR made practice rifle m/44. But one of my problems might be that I have pretty many Mosins in my collection already and so it is difficult to find something new. I saw the Romanian m/44 but I passed also.

It was the first time I went to Kassel and I'm sure I look at Mosin Nagants in a different way then you do.

I'm a starting collector and I was very dissappointed I had to leave the Romanian M44 behind.

Oh well....maybe some other time.

I wasn't dissapointed about the "Bratwürste" though.

They tasted great.

Thats a lovely rifle KH, excuse my ignorance, but is that a French manufactured MN. Also when was the top handguard introduced?

BTW, I added my Polish M44 to your datasheet today.

the rifle was indeed produced in France in the city of Chatellerault. The first ~500000 rifles m/91 were made there. The handguard was introduced by order of february 23rd, 1894.
