Actually it was more like several nice walks in the woods and 1 cold night in tents.

We didn't see a pig but according to the game camera at the neighbor's feed plot there is at least 1 big 300+ pound boar out there. The camera also showed a large bear so Bob did not stray more than 5 feet from his rifle the whole time.

They have taken 40+ pigs in the last 2 years.

Here is Bob returning to camp with my brother's totally blind dog following behind. He and Bob became great friends. You can just see the tents in the clump od trees ahead of him.

It was in the low 30's and he is waiting for the water to boil so he can make a cup of instant ramen. The only time the rifle left his shoulder was when we were in the house.

This is looking up the creek, the tents are on the left.

And this is looking down stream.

All in all we had a great Thanksgiving, we had dinner with Mom & Dad and my Sister and 1 of my nephews, and of coarse my brother and his partner .

This is what they do to make a living way out there.

Those are orchids, from all over the world and also from their own lab.

We use 4 pound back packing tents. I took this pic Friday afternoon from inside mine, just room enough for me, my pack, and the bare essentials.

Here are our tents, the creek is just behind our camp.

And one final pic, here we are on a big rock.

I liked that picture post.

Gives this site some character.

Speaking of hunting, a local hunter had a black bear climb up the tree his stand he was in this weekend in lower Alabama. The bear bit down on his leg and tried to pull him out of his stand. The hunter emptied a .22 pistol into the bear and then it hit the ground, and it was still alive, he did the wise thing, which he should have done to start with, and he shot the bear with his deer rifle.

You wouldn't necessarily be able to get your rifle into action with a bear chewing on your leg, thats what this is for.

A side arm is one of the necessities of life in bear country.

Yes, it's the #5 that I recently posted in the LE forum.

It has a scope mount that connects in place of the rear sight and has a piece that goes into the charger bridge and tightens with 2 set screws. I don't know who it is made by, it came on my Long Branch, but it is rock solid.

It became "his rifle" about 3 rounds into our range session 2 weekends ago.

Great post Curtis, i really enjoyed your pics. You guys are so lucky being able to do stuff like that.

The scope mount on your No.5 sounds like the "S&K Instamount" I have one for my No.4.

Seems like Bobs taken a real shine to the No.5, You do have more than though Curtis, dont you?

I don't think I'll be getting it back from him. I am going to put the #4 butt on it for him.

I do still have my #5 BSA match rifle.

Here is the mount, I don't know who made it, there is not a mark on it. I have used it on several rifles.

The S&K mount is marked as such both sides Curtis, mine has only one screw inserted from the top of the mount, which tightens into a wedge in the charger guide. Does that make sense?

Heres a couple of pics anyway.

I have something similar to yours which I use on my p14 It is made by B-Square and uses the battle sight base screw to secure it and by a set screw on the breech end to stop recoil.
