Here's some pictures of my daughter Ellen with my No 4T at Battlehill the other weekend

She put 20 straight shots in the bull at 300yrds rested, 300yrd Tin Hat target.

The ammo was handloaded on a Lee Loader, I dug them out from under a bench the other week and have been using them a bit, they are excellent pieces of kit. Post to follow on the handloading board.

She had a bit plink with the M38 as well as some black rifles, the No 4T was voted the best however.

Is that one of Dr. Payne's brackets?

At least Ellen knows the proper side of the rifle to shoot from

Does she go shooting with you often?

good shooting it should make you proud that someone in the family can up hold the family honor at the range

I'm waiting for the day the 7 year old can hold a battle rifle and shoot with me.

If so no, the rifle is an all matching original T4 with a Rose Bros sight bracket.

Ellen used to shoot a lot with me when she was younger, we used to go to the clays every weekend when she was in her early teens, she was/is also a keen rough shooter who has taken many a bunny for the pot.

University got in the way but now thats she's come back to the NE to practice we should see more of her on the range.

From an early age I took my two kids shooting and had them kill some fur and feather, which they had to gut, skin/pluck, cook and eat.

I reckon that if anyone is a meat eater then they need to be able to do the business themselves, especially if they expect someone else to provide their food by proxy.

Both my kids are meat eaters with clear conscience now and fill the pot when they get the chance.

Trying not to sound like an old woman, but buy her some shooting glasses for Christmas....

welcome to these boards and thanks for your comments.

Shooting glasses are available always in the shooting bag and she is fully aware of the potential danger of letting go a pipe bomb at 40,000 psi jammed into your face, its her choice.

On saying that I dont wear glasses either for full bore, muzzle loaders now thats different.

I am also aware of the risk but think that its low. I'm more likely to be killed or incapacitated by a car failure driving to to the range, I always wear a seat belt and never touch alcohol when driving, than be hurt by a firearm, but the risk is still there.

Perhaps this taking a risk however small is a rebellion to living in Bastard Blairs nanny state where every thing is legislated for, you need a performance license to go carol singing now and people can't sell cakes at a church fare any more, health and safety you know!

Life is about risk management not the complete erosion of risk.

Yep, I was asking about the mount, thought it might have been one of the reproductions sold by Roger Payne. The one on tour rifle is much nicer in finish than the one on my '43 BSA T. Congrats on a nice rifle, and also for a young 'un to pass your heritage off to.

Great to see the youngsters having a go. There is nothing so satisfying as being out-shot by an offspring.

I'd post some pics of my 11yrs & 11 month old son having a shot but unfortunately he has never handled a firearm in his life. Against the law and I'm an extremely law abiding citizen and fully support all that the Leader has done to curb firearm ownership and use, especially by children under the supervision of a competent adult.

He gets his licence at 12, but can't apply until he turns 12.

If every one followed the Leader this would be a better country.

Our Leader has told us so. He is a friend of Tony Blair.
