New Broom

Wayback when I was a young soldier I was low man on the totem pole in the Armoury at Ingleburn Area Workshop.
We got a new Officer Commanding,. A Major__________, (no names no pack drill).
One of his first actions was to call all of his section leaders together and have a discussion about how he was going to improve the unit.
Among his remarks were ones to the effect that no one had been charged with an offence for at least 7 years.Our old OC, Captain Dick Werne, was a gentleman who thought that leadership and persuasion were the ways to get things done and to smooth over any little problems that arose.
The new OC told the meeting that he expected one charge per week from each section. Sgt Frank Cliffe, the Armourer Sgt (and my mate and boss) asked if he was to charge me every week or would he alternate with the Armourer Cpl? Our Clown Commanding hadn't bothered to find out how many Craftsmen were in each section. In the Armoury there was only me.
That was the end of that.(I think I posted this story before the Great Collapse, however I reserve an old mans right to repeat things)
