Milsurp After Hours

I found this in an estate sale has been converted to a sniper and is quite accurate the groups at 50yds in a 20/30 mph cross wind were from 3/4" to 1.5" with Russian copper washed surplus ammo.

Do you shoot factory ammo or do you reload Id be intrested in the load if its one of your own.

This was with '86 factory 60 Russian copper washed ammo. Will get dies as I have dies for all cal even if I do not load for them. Think I will try cast bullets I have done that with my K31 with good results. IMR 4759 works good. Will let you know when I get set up.

Buying factory ammo over here is just too expensive so I reload for all of my Mosin Nagants.

Besides the fact that factory ammo is too expensive, I just like to reload.

Looks like you bought yourself a great shooter there.

Congrats on the buy.

I've used 150 gn and 168gn FMJ bullets in my M39 only to find out that the .311 200gn casted bullets perform best.

Please check your bore diameter before using any bullets.

It might surprise you.

What sort of loads are you using Id be intrested to know.

Here is some info on the reloaded ammo I use for my 1946 Izhevsk M44.

The cases I use are S&B cases trimmed back to 53.3mm or 2.10”

The bullets are cal .311, 210 gn casted bullets.

I don’t cast them myself, but buy them at our gunclub.

The powder I use is VihtaVuori N110, it’s a so called reduced load.

Because the primer pockets of the S&B cases are a bit smaller in diameter compared to other primer pockets, 5.3mm(.208”) compared to 5.5mm(.217”) I bought some S&B LR primers.

They fit perfectly and performed great.

For my Mosin Nagant M39 I can use various types of loads:

1) 150 gn PMC FMJ .308 bullet

46 gn of VihtaVuori N140 powder



2) 150 gn PMC FMJ .308 bullet

26 gn of VihtaVuori N110 powder

3) 168 gn Sierra Matchking .308 bullet

24 gn of VihtaVuori N110 powder

4) 210 gn .311 cast bullet

18 gn of VihtaVuori N110 powder

For my M 39 I use Lapua brass (reloaded 31 times and still looking great ) and Federal primers.

These loads work for my M44 and M39.

Please check your barrel before using these bullets and loads on your own rifle.

Iv been looking for a load for n110 cheers.

My friends in Finland load with this powder all the time. Its great powder and the ballistics are not affected by temperature variations.

That's correct RGRWJB, this powder performs very good.

I've tried different types of powders in the past years, but always came back to VihtaVuori.

I think the majority of the Dutch reloaders use this brand.
