Well coincidently with Joes post yesterday the baubles from the Phoenix finally arrived in the post having all been sent out this week evidently.

The range report of my highs and lows over the weekend is in the Phoenix thread so I won't repeat it.

Here are some of Ellen's photos from the Phoenix, there are others but they are on Jim's (Jumper man's) camera so we will probably never see them.

Lets start with the Artists Rifles clubhouse. Our clubhouse of choice whilst at Bisley, well the only one that will let us in. It is an oasis of alcohol, good food and tall tales of shooting derring do. I'm actually staying there for the Historic arms weekend in a fortnight as we couldn't get any cabins.

A shot of inside one of the Crawford Cabins where we usually stay:

<img src=http://img.photobucket.com/albums/1003/ ... /Cabin.jpg [/pic]

One of Ellen's arty farty shots on the clay pigeon stand.

<img src=http://img.photobucket.com/albums/1003/ ... sphoto.jpg [/pic]

Speed plates, the incessant ting, ting, ting, ting, ding! could be heard all over Bisley all day long.

<img src=http://img.photobucket.com/albums/1003/ ... lates2.jpg [/pic]

<img src=http://img.photobucket.com/albums/1003/ ... lates1.jpg [/pic]

On to Century Range, 400 yrd firing point and the mediium range aggregates. It was chucking it down rain, veritable stair rods.

400 yrd firing point

Black Powder Cartridge shooters and repro Sharps

<img src=http://img.photobucket.com/albums/1003/ ... uryBPC.jpg [/pic]

Heres me with my SMLE not doing my best, the gentleman to my left is Mike Barton, he won the medium range .303" aggregate.

<img src=http://img.photobucket.com/albums/1003/ ... ntury2.jpg [/pic]

<img src=http://img.photobucket.com/albums/1003/ ... ntury4.jpg [/pic]

<img src=http://img.photobucket.com/albums/1003/ ... ntury5.jpg [/pic]

Another one of Ellens mood shots "The loneliness of the long distance shooter" pretentious or what

<img src=http://img.photobucket.com/albums/1003/ ... ieness.jpg [/pic]

Finally the baubles:

These are the standard laurels. There are three standards or pars for each competition and anyone who scores meet the standard get a laurel. My medium range scaores got me a sliver standard laurel and my long range scaores got me the gold standard laurel.

<img src=http://img.photobucket.com/albums/1003/ ... ubles8.jpg [/pic]

Second place .303" mediuim range aggregate silver medal.

<img src=http://img.photobucket.com/albums/1003/ ... ubles5.jpg [/pic]

<img src=http://img.photobucket.com/albums/1003/ ... ubles7.jpg [/pic]

<img src=http://img.photobucket.com/albums/1003/ ... ubles4.jpg [/pic]

First place .303" long range gold medal.

<img src=http://img.photobucket.com/albums/1003/ ... ubles2.jpg [/pic]

<img src=http://img.photobucket.com/albums/1003/ ... ubles3.jpg [/pic]

<img src=http://img.photobucket.com/albums/1003/ ... ubles1.jpg [/pic]

Endpiece with one of the rounds that did the business, the old .303" and a 95 year old rifle has still got what it takes :D

Congrats on your expert shooting and nice pics. The .303 can still do the business.

Incidentally, there is a 1918 dated SMLE range rifle for sale in a shop not too far away from me. Rear sight removed and full length rear handguard, PH5A sight, BSA heavy target barrel and extra barrel band behind the nosecap. I suppose it is a typical 1920s target rifle that fought for the Kings Prize.

Regards

Peter.

Well done Adam. I do like the second pick of Ellens, shows your best side.

What is the extra item (front band ?) on the SMLE ?

Has the package arrived yet ?

Well done indeed and in deed.

We have an Open Day next Sunday, I'll post a few pictures of our Club House. Show you that we in the antipodes can do fairly well in the amenities as well.

Eoin.

Thank you for all the good wishes gentlemen.

The rifle is a Fultons regulated example and the extra band is part of that work Graeme.

Most heartfelt congratulations on the fine shooting. Thanks for sharing the pix. I hope that the camera and photographer did not suffer any ill effects.
