Of the rifles I haven't got, the L1A1 is the one I want most but can not have. A lovely rifle.
When I was in the RAF we had the magazine filler to enable the 5 round chargers to be used, but we mostly didn't use it and loaded the magazine with loose rounds.
Regards
Peter.

Just thought I would tell you that one of the members at our club has bought an Austrian version of the SLR.
He asked me if I could tell him anything about it as I am English. He brought it down to the range and I had it field stripped in seconds. It is a good 17 years since I last shot one but it still thrills me. The Austrian version is a littl different as it has a fitted bi-pod and the forend is metal not wood or plastic. Mine had an extra long plastic but and a wooden forend. I used to love firing at 600mtrs on fall when hit targets. I was then issued with the poxy SA80 - hated it!
I still have copies of the SLR lessons 1-12 and I let Jean-Francois have copies along with other infon.
Memories!!!

Ah! The SLR, worked on thousands of them.Very reliable, easy to work on and very accurate when given the Armourer's special treatment.

And the main spring assembly, modifyed as necessary, made a nifty mainspring replacement in varous weapons.
I used to use them in new underhammer M/Ls.

Aye nice rifles, but I always hated cleaning the damned gas plug!!!!!! No matter how clean you got it, there was always some b*****d to tell you it wasnt clean enough

I would have one over the SA80 any day.
