No Gert I'm not going to make it for that shoot, wanted to give my trapdoor a competitive airing but its just on the wrong weekend for me.

I am however going down for the HBSA classic and veteran long range shoot 19th 20th August and the mid range one in September.

These are worth the petrol for me as they have practices on the Saturday so makes for a good weekends shooting.

Well, this one does too - there is practice at both 900 and 1,000 on saturday. Unfortunately, I don't have anything to shoot at a classic or veteran shoot - mostly BP for me, you know...

I have just entered for the Long Range but can only shoot on the Sunday, I just hope to God I can get on target before I run out of ranging shots!

I wonder if my dear old mate Brian the Brit will be joining us this year?

Come on Brian you know you want to. :D

Hi Mick,

unfortunately I'm not going to go to the long range HBSA shoot now, a combination of domestic issues and being in dispute with the HBSA.

Evidently after having set up the Border Counties branch of the HBSA 8 years ago, I'm the Treasurer, we the membership find out that we are not actually members after all and just subscribe to the HBSA comics. We get a number but no membership card!!!!

If any of us want to become members, non voting at that, then we have to make our merry way down south to whatever occasion has two council members there.

Not too difficult for someone like me who regularly attends historic shoots at Bisley, however most of the Border Counties branch do not travel south.

So we have some unhappy HBSA non member bunnies up here at present.

Obviously we will be taking this up further with HBSA London branch which seems to be the HQ. But they have been very quiet in answering my emails about branch status and membership, still holiday period if I want to be kind.

Sorry I won't see you on the 20th but good luck with the shoot.

Very sad Adam, I have to say it is their/my (I am an HBSA member) loss.

I can remember the last time this issue raised it's head regarding the Northern Branch; some of whom turned up at the Imperial War Museum for a debate about it, I regret to say that I did not understand the legal arguments that were being raised at the time. However when shooting needs all of it's membership to come together why do some of the shooting associations shun people because of geographical locations?

Madness, bloody madness!
