As mentioned elsewhere, for a brief space in cyber-time, I went to a range that I hadn't visited since it was put back into commission.

The Guard at the gate was persuaded to let us in.

Compared to the other two he's not bad looking.

Quite a nice set-up, a tad short of 300 metres.

The covered firing line, Geoff Parker fiddling with some modern thing.

Geoff fires the Smith Carbine.

Outside the gate, a couple of locals, undeterred by the sound of gunfire.

While we were shooting we were buzzed by an F18 that came in so low that he raised the dust, and the NOISE :!: :!: :!:

Now that's a range

If you look closely at pic 4 you'll see another stump under Geoff's right arm. There were 3 others behind the camera.

I guess most people bring seats of their own.

Stumps are really steady but difficult to adjust for height :D

The benches are very good, rock solid.

Nice Eoin.

Is that where you got to sight in when you want to go hunting the Emmaville Panther ?

Does the seating double as fuel for the after shoot barbie ?

Leave the Emmaville Panther alone, it's good for the Tourist Trade

The stumps are pine so no good for the barbie, but ther's plenty of good dry hardwood around, except that it is now an offence to gather firewood on public land, $5'000 fine. :!: :!: :!:
