Pics of my new trainer

Probably the most popular caliber firearm in most of the world. Many of us have more than one. They also are very collectible and still cheap to shoot.

Pics of my new trainer

Post by PeterN2 » Sun Nov 19, 2006 11:25 am

I finally got a few pics taken of my new RF Short MkII trainer that I bought last month.

Unusually, it still has the cut off. There were normally removed as they are no longer of any use.

Rear sight renumbered to the rifle.

1901 date.

Muzzle marked for .22.

What does FB 2 mean?

It has a nice butt

It is a nice rifle for its age and shoots well.

Peter.

Joe, I plan to have this rifle for some time so it's not going to be available in the near future. :)

I shot it again tonight. I was cheating using 50 yard targets at 20 yards. I had the sight set for a 6 o'clock hold. The flyers are down to my eyesight and lighting on an indoor range. I am happy with the way it shoots. I will get it onto an outdoor range sometime and see what we can do at 50 and 100 yards.

One of the targets from tonight, 5 shots on each.

Very nice indeed.

Is the bolt numbered to the rifle and if so does it appear to have been only numbered once?

The original bolt would have had the safety on it as your rifle was a LE Mk I* and the present bolt appears to be SMLE.

I have a .22 Short Rifle Mk I but it is nowhere as nice as yours, being a real bitzer and having been modified over the years by the army.

Handguard and bolt

Post by PeterN2 » Sun Feb 25, 2007 1:51 pm

Here are a few pics of the handguard and bolt. There is only one number on the bolt and that matches the barrel and receiver number. It had red paint in the number when I got the rifle.
