Just got this today. Couldn't pass it up. The stock has been refinished but the metal looks like it just came out of the refurb factory. Not completely matching numbers but I'd guess most weren't after being thru the war. This thing is beautiful. I'd been hoping to get one for my collection for some time and I'm glad I found this one. I need a cleaning rod and a bayo for it. They'll come in time.

I have a couple of K98's with most of the marks removed by the old paranoid commies.
How is the stock made? By 44 I would think it a laminated stock. I have one laminated and one solid. Here's a closeup of a laminated stock.

'how's it shoot?'
I dunno. I ain't got no stinking bullets!
Should shoot real well, it's got a real nice bore and everything is pretty much like new.
It is laminated with a really fine lams, only about 1/16 thick.
This hasn't been scrubbed at all. I don't think the commies got it. There are no marks indicating that.

Got a bayonet - a CUL 43. Blade is parked, was told they all were. It looks better than in the pic. It's in good shape.
Now I need a frog.
Seems you can't mount a bayonet with a rod installed. You can use one or the other, not both

I have a BYF 44 that looks much like yours except that Ivan ground off the eagles. It shoots great. Enjoy.
