This is a returnee from Korea, rebarreled in .308 with a 6 groove Douglas(?) tube surplused from the Springfield INC. Garand build, way back when.

Buttstock decoration. This is a very well-used Anniston Ordinance replacement stock---

The rifle is set up as per an American Rifleman article from about 1964----whern the serious guys still shot these, I suppose.
It's pressure bedded, trigger-jobbed and the gas tube ring is reamed out from 7:00 to 4:00, staked in place with the bottom pad tight against the barrel.
Handguard is floating forward of the band----all that stuff.
