Gandhi and violence and non-violence

We have all heard that the Mahatma was opposed to violence, and so he was BUT not in all circumstances.
I cannot vouch for the authenticity of the quote below but it hasn't been contradicted, as yet, and it's been around for a number of years.
I haven't yet found the time to wade through the Gandhian quotations available on the internet.
