Milsurp After Hours

This is my Martini Enfield. I found out about it the day before it was due to be destroyed. It belonged to an old guy who died bout 6 years ago, and it took the Police bout 4 years trying to track down his next of kin to see what he wanted to do with it. He didnt want it so it was going to be chopped up. I heard about it and managed to get it. It needs a bit of cleaning, but I will get down to it soon. I must get some decent pics of it. It has the UVF cartouche on the stock and of course is chambered in .303. I only have a few surplus 303 rounds so I need to get some cases and start to load a few.

Excellent! can you post some close ups of her? The last one of these UVF carbines I saw had Belgian proofs all over it. Has this one?

Nice one Ian glad you managed to rescue the old girl

I would like to see some close up pics too, receiver markings etc.

The stock of the rifle has quite a few dings as can be expected of a gun this age. The cartouche on the stock has been dinged at the top edge but you can still make out the letters. There are no markings on the receiver. I have seen a few of these UVF rifles over the years and have never seen one with markings on the receiver. There are a few stamps on the barrel BNP etc and no doubt there will be some on the bottom of the barrel. I am going to strip it sometime in the next few days. There was some light rust on it and some pitting here and there, but I would have been surprised if there wasnt any. The crown of the barrel is not damaged, and the bore has sharp rifling but is dark. The barrel really needs a good clean. I really must get my finger out, and get it sorted. I will take a few more pics over the next couple of days.

After desiring one of these for several years I recently purchased a trade pattern artillery carbine in .303 British.What a wonderful rifle to shoot.Very accurate.

I've found one for sale but inspecting it personally would mean a longer drive than I can spare time for at the moment. And the bloke is asking serious money.
