See those big 50 cals are coming back into fashion as long range snipers now, nothing is "new" under this sun.
Recoil looks good doesn't it, not 600 Nitro Express but still a bugger to shoot prone and too heavy to shoot off hand, its definitely a plonk it on a wall jobby.
Great links Peter thanks.

Did anybody see the one for sale at the Trafalgar meeting in 2005?
The dealer wanted £1500 for it and was selling because he could only use it on one range (apparently) in the UK.
Interesting videos Peter, thanks.
I would like one

I saw one advertised in Gunmart a couple of years ago for £1600. I would like one but where would you shoot it and where would you get ammunition? Interesting to have as a collectors item, though it is a bit big for the gun cabinet.
Regards
Peter

Best of luck Adam, hold on tight when you fire it...from one who has, but only one round.
Not as bad as the PIAT though.

My late father, who was a C/Sgt Instructor in the RTR was never very complimentary about them or the PIAT for that matter
Now if you have played with a Carl Gustav 84mm L14A1......WOW thats fun!

Tried the 81mm Belgian bazooka (blindicide, french for tank killer) and also shot the LAW. Both at a carcass of an old Sherman, you could see the rust fly when you scored a hit.
The blindicide did require some gloves, otherwise all the hair on your hands got burnt... And the LAW - you really need earplugs, or your ears will be ringing for a week at least! Ask me how I know... Probably the air displacement.
The other anti-tank I shot was the Energa rifle grenade on the FAL - kicked like an angry mule, and it HURT! If you wanted to hit a moving tank with that hing, good luck - like shooting a mortar at very short range. Never shot PIAT though.

I think I once read that the Boyes was reputed to break collar bones. Also that they were later converted to long range sniper rifles, tho I forget which war. I think they had more success at that.
Always wanted a go, but I value my health!
