I have always been a bit partial to the 1911-A1 .45 automatic. The C&R ones from WWII that I have seen have been either too expensive or too long in the tooth (worn out). When I saw one of the Springfield Armory GI-45 versions at a local dealer on sale, I could not resist.

This has the look and feel of the original with the added plus of an unobtrustive internal locking mechanism. I took it out to the range for a test yesterday. Fifty rounds prove to me that I have not changed a bit since I was in the service. Still cannot shoot a pistol worth a damn unless the target it inside of 10 feet. Still, I like the .45 a lot better than the Beretta M9 that we went to before I retired. If you hit it with the .45, it goes down. The 9mm Beretta just pisses it off.
