At the show in Louisville, Ky I found this series 27 rope hole rifle and brought it home with me. It is one of the harder to find rope holes without any serial numbers or markings. I am very proud of it. riceone.

BIT MORE INFO PLEASE

In a further effort to concerve metal some of the last rifles had a hole in the butt stock instead of a metal sling swivel. With the hole they stuck a peice of rope through the hole tied a knot and the other end was tied around the barrel for a sling. The 27, 11 and 9 had rope slings on some rifles. riceone.

Thanks, simple when you are told!!

I had a look at a rope hole Arisaka at Trident Arms in Nottingham about six years ago. I didn't know much about Arisaka rifles then. They had a batch of 20 odd T99, T38 rifles and carbines and a few T44s. I ended up buying a T44, a T99 short and two T99 long rifles. They had another T99 long rifle but that got sold before I could get it. The last ditch rope hole was very roughly made. I did't fancy shooting it, though if it passed proof it shouid have been OK. I expect the other rifles I didn't buy ended up being de-activated, including the rope hole rifle.

Regards

Peter.
