The pictures of his Colt Peacemaker are really good. Looks like in one of them he has a couple of notches cut into the grip towards the top inside.
As is generally known, Patton loved being a show off with his uniform and ivory grip pistols in duel holsters, not matching pistols by the way. But when reporters got the material in the grips wrong he was particularly upset. Here's one quote:
Patton took violent offense at any reference to his pistols being pearl handled. He said, "Only a pimp in a New Orleans whorehouse or a tin-horn gambler would carry a pearl-handled pistol." In no uncertain terms he would have the offender know that his revolver was indeed "IVORY-GOD-FUCKING-DAMN-HANDLED" and with that he would turn on his heel and leave.

Yeah. Last time I was there, his Peacemaker was loaned out, I believe to an NRA event.
Luckily it was here this time. I'm surprised the pix came out as well as they did, being behind glass, and the lighting in the museum generally sucking....

Most museums which have 'organic' exhibits (and that includes materials like ivory, as well as cloth items, such as uniforms) tend to keep light levels low as higher levels of light can cause damage to the artifacts.
Not good for photographs, but it does mean that there is something for the next generation to see.

I have not been there since the summer of 1975 when I was going through basic training and the armor school. Good museum. Most of the stuff I operated is probably in it now.

The weapons he carried in WW2 probably were not fired in anger(the scene of his shooting at German bombers in North Africa in the movie "Patton" notwithstanding) but he did use a handgun at the Rubio Ranch fight in 1916.
By his description of the affair it would seem he used a service 1911,referring to his "Pistol" several times, he also carried and fired a Springfield rifle during the affray.
His pistol marksmanship and hit percentage were pretty good accounting for two,possibly three men and two horses!One hit on a horse is described as "breaking the hip".

I was there last September and the guns were gone. I was really disappointed, as I really wanted to see them.
