In a previous thread, Dschnopp mentioned that some of the equipment he used in the military is probably in a museum now.

That got me thinking about the stuff I used that has been replaced, first things that popped to mind were C-rations, M-14, M-102 105mm howitzer, steel helmet, khaki uniforms, and some others.

So what are some of the things that you used in the military that are no longer in use?

Intelligence & Common sense.

But the military don't have a monopoly on not using them.

On the civilian front I went to the Powerhouse Museum in Sydney about 3 years back and I can remember when at least 2 of the exhibits were in everyday use.

I saw an M3A1 in W Germany in 84 during an exercise, the US Signallers were obviously rear area troops!

For me it's the SLR, SMG, Boots DMS, Puttees, 1944 pattern Helmet, still on issue in 1988. The 1 ton Land Rover, Wombat, Fox CVR with the great 30mm Rarden. Scorpion with the 76mm gun. Chieftan and Centurion ARV. FV432 but they've sneaked that back in Iraq! Clansman radios, I seem to recall Larkspur? The 2 metre drop test? Bedford RLs and the HGV3 license.

I forgot the 84mm Charley G!

In fact I recall being issued an AR15 a bog standard M16 no A1 at all! That was 1986!

I remember the Chieftains, FV432's, Scorpions. We had M-60 A1's and M-113A1's and the Danes had M-41's.
