This is the latest contest. Seems like enough guys like these rules enough to go ahead with it. There will be two actual contests running at the same time and there will be a first and second place winner in each contest. The rules are as follows:

Contest one.

At the range near you.

.22 cal rifle of any discription, no scope. Standing. No slings or other support. Distance 25 yards. Target as downloaded and printed from http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepage ... et_305.pdf Number of shots 10. Hits score as to ring value on target. Lines that are cut are counted to the higher score. The x ring counts 20. Total of 10 hits constitutes score.

Email results to x9eralpha@comcast.net. Include jpg of target if you want but not necessary.

There will be a first and second place prize... milsurp patches and pins for sure, maybe something else.

End date for contest....September 1, 2007.

Contest two.

At the range near you.

Milsurp rifle. Distance 100 yards. No Scope. Any stance to fire, sitting, prone, standing , bench, whatever. Slings ok too. Target same as NRA 100 yard target. 10 rounds. Lines cut score to the higher line total. Center counts 20.

Scores should be emailed to me. x9eralpha@comcast.net.

1st and 2nd place prizes as in 22 contest.

Ends September 1st, 2007.

Scores should not be posted on this messageboard by any participant. However, as each score is received I will post it in an otherwise secret forum. And as each contestant submits his score he will be admitted to the secret forum. That way he will know how the contest is going and how he did against the other contestants. No one will be allowed a second chance after they have emailed a score in one contest. A second secret forum wll be made so that there is one for each contest. That way you don't have to shoot both contests on the same day and can still enter both.

Anyone wanting to comment about anything regarding the contest, other then their score, can do so here.

Ok men, lock and load.

Just to see how it might work

Went out to the range today and shot the 22 target from what I estimated to be 25 yards. It is on the stand to the right in the photo. All this proves that it is a good enough target. This target in the picture is not part of the contest. As director of the contest I'm not participating. However, if you look closely, either I didn't shoot the 10th round or it missed the target altogether.

Blackisler has sent in his score. He should now be able to see the secret contest result forum. If you want to see how you stack up against him, and be added to the results forum, email me your score.

When added to the list of who can see the forum you will find it after the Gun Law Around the World forum when logged in.

Second .22 score reported.

Brass Rat sent his in for the .22 contest.

I've made a change in the rule that states that if you participate in both contests you must send both scores in at the same time. You can now send one or the other in first and a second hidden forum will be setup for both contests.

Robert, how about using the issue bipod on my STG for match #2?

Kim and I are going up to River Bend tomorrow morning and I am planning to have a go of it with not only the STG-58 but my VAR barreled M1, my '43 Inland Carbine, and my favorite BSA #5.

You guys over in the UK who think that we are a bunch of fair weather wusses here in the colonies will be happy to hear that we will be shooting in the rain all day. Now if I could just talk the board of directors into adding some of those fox holes to the Hi Power range,

The next match needs to be Service Rifles, offhand, 10 rounds slow fire 200 yards at SR targets. That sort of thing seperates the shooters from the sidewalk commandos.

Can't see much difference between a bypod and a sand bag on a bench. Good shooting.
