This is looking from the chamber end of my XD-45 barrel, and yes that is a 200gn .45 slug in there.

Thats as far as the primer could get it without any powder.

Kim was on about round 3 of a 13 round mag when I heard that distinctive "pop", and pretty much instantly knew what happened.

I used a brass punch and drifted it out through the chamber and managed to avoid any bore damage.

POBODYS NERFECT!

Good thing Kim didn't shoot round 4. Even as it is I'm sure that was a surpise you could have done without. Where did the round come from? Was it factory or somebodies reloading mistake?

Robert, it was from a can of 500 reloads from a well known local company that I picked up at a recent gun show. I am going to contact them this week.

I was running the pistol range one day when this happened with a Browning 9mm. The guy using it had bought a bag of about 50rds from a dealer on the cheap, it was all old stuff dating from the 60's that the dealer had found in an old store room. He thought he had got a bargain. On the line he fired about 4 rounds when I heard the pop. He knew something didnt sound just right, but thought nothing more of it and was about to fire another round when I stopped him. When the detail was over I told him to check the barrel and sure enough there was a bullet stuck in it just forward of the chamber. The scarey thing is that the guy said he knew something hadnt sounded right, but thought it was just a low powered round and was going to fire again. It was a lesson learned for him!!!!

Thankfully Brass Rat you had the experience to know what had happened and stopped kim firing another round. I'm glad there was no damage caused to the barrel!!!!
