The chap I am buying the G98 Mauser from has been on the phone asking if I want to buy a .22 rifle he has. From his description it is a War Office trainer. 'A 1907 single shot rifle with SMLE type sights'. I will have a look at the rifle before I decide to buy as I am not sure what condition it is in. He says it is alright, but one mans alright could be another mans rubbish. I have read up a bit on these from the HARC site. Are they worth having? He says I can have it for £65.

Regards

Peter.

Peter,

I have one and enjoy plinking with it. My understanding is they were never a great success when introduced. More an interesting item than a real collectable. Occasionally see them at auction here and they usually sell. Have never seen one on the open market.
