...and not something you are likely to see in the UK. I am glad the US GI was allowed to bring rifles home from the Pacific as a lot less would have survived otherwise. The British soldier wasn't officially allowed to bring firearns back home so no bringbacks in the UK. The Type 99 rifles I have were imported to the UK from the USA so I have to thank some nameless US servicemen for bringing the rifles I have back from the war.
Regards
Peter.

Yep, that is very impressive. I have yet to see a Japanese rifle in the flesh, you just don't see them here. I don't know of anyone that has one.

I think there are a couple of dealers in mainland U.K who specialise in the import and export of firearms, but I have never checked it out. I must make a few enquiries as it would be interesting to see what they would charge. It may be the case that with the exchange rate what it is, it could still be a viable proposition All of the dealers that I know in N Ireland are bringing their firearms in from Germany.

I saw this in GunMart. They may be worth a look.
http://www.pbs-int.co.uk You buy direct from overseas and use them to ship. Suppose the UK / NI regs will bugger it up once it gets to your side though. Just a thought

Rifles are no problem, if I can get one to the Uk mainland its no problem for me to get it to N Ireland. Once its on my permit I could even go and pick it up myself. Handguns are a different matter. I know a few people who deal in handguns in England, but I then need a Section 5 dealer to drive to the shop to collect it. I was offered a Webley Mk VI in mint condition for £500 from a guy in England. I was happy to pay this, but on checking with a Section 5 dealer here, he said it would cost in region of £350 to £400 to bring it over, boat fare, fuel etc. Rifles can still be posted over to a Registered Firearms Dealer. The cost of this is usually around £50. The problem with N Ireland is that there are no dealers who have decent stuff. I know the majority of the dealers in N Ireland and they phone me from time to time if they have anything interesting for sale. When I go and look at the firearms however, 9 times out of 10 they are in poor condition. I suppose I am a bit fussy, but they must be shooters and in relatively good condition.
