I bought three of them in "good" condition from Century. Each cost $50 including shipping and came with a bayonet with scabbard as well as ammo pouches. And....Turk ammo could be bought for less than $4.00 for a bandoleer of 70 rounds of WWII vintage ammo.
Not exactly ancient history. Mid 1999.
The rifles shot pretty well and the ammo was better than much of the spam can Nagant ammo for other rifles.
Thats 38 years ago !!

The first rifle I bought using my C&R license was a $39.99 Turk from Wholesale Gun.
That wasn't the cheapest either, in Arp of 03 I bought a MAS-36 from GPC for $36
The Turk Mausers started it all.

In 1999 I saw an ad in Shotgun News by J&G Sales for Turkish Mausers selling for $39.95.I had my dealer order one. That started the milsurp side of firearms for me.That led to other Mausers,Mosins and finally..(sigh) my lovely Enfields.
