Milsurp After Hours

I was ordering some Marine Binoculars and got to wondering about this. Particularly at this time of the year when every nimrod deer hunter goes out to the range and fires two rounds..or one.... and wants to walk a hundred yards down range while everybody else stands behind the yellow line..... and wishes the guy would take up fishing.

Mine is a cheap one but good enough for me. Bushnell 20x60 zoom.

I've also got a set of binoculars in my truck for when I once in a while either forget, or don't want to lug, the spotting scope.

What's the general feeling about them? Everybody have a means of viewing their 100 yard targets without taking a walk?

I find putting your hundred yard target at 25 yards saves walking.

Seriously though, I use some 10 x 50 bino's. But I do admit as my eyes get older (along with every thing else except my ego) I find that they are no longer adequate and I'm seriously thinking about upgrading to a scope fo some sort.

I use a Seben 20x60 scope when I go to the Range and I also use an 8x63 See Adler binos w2hen out hunting

This is mine. Fine at 25m, not so good at 100m, i really need a 20 X 60 myself. Birthday and Xmas is coming so i will put one on my list.

Didn't pay much for the scope either About £49 I think

It's OK at 50 mtrs but over 100 it gets a bit blurred but I can see the holes at 200mtrs - just.

short answer is yes , for your exact reason , when the range is full its the curteous thing to do , i too have a cheap one - barska - great out to 100 and not one foot further , but what the hay , it serves the purpose ,

i did buy a nice set of nikon marine binocs with rangefinder and compus many years ago and ive not been sorry about that eather

A square 10... got a Bushnell Marine 7x50. Probably be great for spotting sea birds over fish It has a range finder, if you know how high something is in the distance, and a compass in it with a light if needed. I suspect it will work good in a open boat being water proof and allowing lots of light in, but not the range for target spotting.. need something with a little less field of view like the 10x50 that I also have.

exactly my thoughts , i love the binocs in the boat , use them there regularly - very similar to yours in every detail , but i have not taken them to the range - i like the cheap barska for that - it truely works great , and cost me next to nothing - i do use my camera tripod tho , as the one that came with it was very small and extreemly flimsey ,

I bought a Tasco-Japanese made telescope at a yard sale-curiously

enough on my way to the range, bought a more powerful eyepiece so

now its 50x or something like that. Paid all of $10US for it.
